Open Door’s Client-Choice Food Pantry located in the Outreach Center at 7170 Cooley Lake Road in Waterford, MI, provides food and care items on a monthly basis to qualified income men, women, children and seniors struggling to make ends meet.
More than 22,800 pounds of food (equaling 19,00 meals) is distributed to 311 local families each month in the community.
Donations come from local churches, schools, civic organizations, and individuals like you.
Open Door also purchases food from Gleaners Food Bank and receives food from partners including Waterford Panera, Meijer Simply Give, White Lake Community Garden, Waterford Insurance, Forgotten Harvest and Costco. People also donate extra food from their own private gardens.
Clients receive a voucher and then shop in the resale store, four times a year/seasonally or as needed.
The food pantry with fresh food such as in-season vegetables and nonperishable food such as soup is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.

Clients are asked to bring the following pieces of information to their scheduled appointment.
- Picture Identification
Driver's License, Michigan State Identification, Passport or Other
- Proof of Residency (must have a date within the last 30 days)
Rental Receipt, Utility Bill (with same name and address), or Other
- Proof of Household Income (for the last 30 days)
Pay Stubs, SSI, FIA/ADC, or Other
- Proof of Child Custody
Insurance, Medicaid Card, Social School Enrollment, or Other
- Proof of Income for All Adults Over 18 Living in the Household
